Stormy Weather Banks has been a fashion designer for more than 30 years, honing her craft to become the professional business woman / educator within the industry she loves today. And with noteworthy successes as wedding dress designer and seamstress of men & women evening apparel, a soft doll maker, etc., her most profound joy comes from working with today’s youth.
  
     Stormy’s journey began at the very early age of 7. As her mother taught her to sew, she followed that passion attending ​​Brooks College Long Beach, CA. earning an Associates of Arts in Fashion/Apparel Design, and a Bachelor of Arts in Teacher Education & Professional Development at California State University- Dominguez Hills. 
    
     Stormy has been twice featured bridal designer in Black Bridal Magazine and a featured doll maker in Anaheim’s Soft Doll Artist Magazine for her Mud Pie Baby dolls. She has been featured in L.A. Sentinel for Santee High School Fashion Club fashion showcase, in both ENCLAVE World Culture in LA and The William Grant Still Arts Center as she displayed her Mud Pie Baby dolls facilitating a Dollmaking Workshop to "Empower Women Of Color" to break the silence on HIV/AIDS in the black community. She took 1st place at Brooks College Fashion Show and was ​
awarded by the​ City of Bellflower for her​ work with the​ youth in the community.

     As an educator, she has taught classes at South Omaha College Nebraska, Cerritos Jr. College, California and at Santee High School. Her reputation at Santee High School is highly regarded as she has taken a simple class course from the classroom to the runway, literally. Each year, showcasing the talents of the students, they are professionally judged by the fashion & entertainment industry leaders. This overly anticipated, red carpeted, step & repeat, celebrity MC hosted media event, has a 500+ attendance and is Santee High School's event of the year.

     With all the many activities she has involved herself in, Stormy continues to push herself professionally, reaching new heights and goals as a business woman. Opening a boutique in Bellflower, CA (Kinfolks Country Store) that further offers sewing classes. Stormy is a tailor & a seamstress for many of the local residents with some repeat and former clientele. Stormy's story continues to evolve as a number of celebrity clientele that has crossed her path as well i.e. Arrested Development, Mary J. Blige, Obba Babatunde (family and friends), Chris Rock, James Avery, and Sally Fields, seeking signature evening wear apparel or has purchased a Mud Pie Baby. Repeatedly embracing her talents, Stormy recently flexed her muscles designing and sewing Santee High School’s mascot, Falcon Freddy.

     Stormy’s latest venture is StormyWeather Banks, LLC, a company bringing all of what she knows in this forever growing fashion industry to promising designers. A yearly fashion conference networking the industry seekers with information to succeed independently. As this venture takes off, Stormy will still amaze us all as she plans to start a Non-Profit organization offering her talents and optimism to At-Risk youth continuing her evolution of “Breaking Barriers by all Fashionable Means”
